1937 Ford Phaeton

This 1937 Ford Phaeton has come into the shop for some bodywork. The owner is completing the restoration of the car himself but wants us to work on some deterioration that has occurred on the rear portion of the car as well as the cowl and firewall.

Overall the car is in nice shape but we did determine there are some issues with bubbling under the paint. It isn't visible from a distance but up close you can clearly see the problem. At this time, we are not going to attempt to repair the paint issue largely because the cost of the repair would exceed the current budget.

The work has progressed nicely. We did find significant deterioration of the metal under the body skin. We cut out the rusted areas and fabricated new pieces which were welded in. The firewall and cowl sections are pretty solid but both had surface rust forming under the paint. We stripped the paint and sandblasted the rust areas. The photos below show the car as as we started working on it through the completed repairs
