Here we have a 1956 Mercedes-Benz 190SL. The 190SL series ran from 1955 to 1963. This classic was a more affordable choice compared to the lavish 300SL. The 190SL came equipped with a 1.9 liter four cylinder engine and four speed manual transmission. Zero to sixty in about 14.5 seconds.
This car came in from another shop, supposedly all done. Check out what we found and had to fix.

These two photos show the left and right sides of the hood. As you can see we have some binding problems. |
This is the area the hood was binding. Yeah, it's heart breaking when you have to break something to fix something. We had to spread the corner a little to get the proper hood alignment. |
Here we have some bad body contour damage.
This picture shows the grill section needs to be adjusted.
Here are some photos of the grill work. I had to send Wes out to get another bottle of propane, we ran out before we could cook the hot dogs. |
There she is. It's a shame to get burger grease all over the emblem. |
If you look closely, you can see we have to move the holes for the bumper brackets. |
Looks like the wrong part. Maybe it's the wrong car. As you can see, again, we had to split the metal to fit the tail lights. Bill tried to split the tail light, but it didn't work. He forgot to unplug it first. |
Looks much better. I guess you could say, "A Custom Fit." I thought it was funny. |
Just giving her a coat of body putty to fill in the minor imperfections of the metal. |
We applied some body putty to the rear sections as well. |
In these photos, you can see we sand most of it off. The filler is just that, filler. It is not meant to replace missing metal. |
Here's the hood. Check out the two sides. No more binding. |
Check out the headlight bezels. "Like a glove." |
We had to do some modifications to the grill bezel. Now it fits. |
Into the paint shop we go. As you can see, we apply a few coats of primer to ensure everything is coated evenly. |
Now for the finishing the paint. We have applied the base coat and are working on the clear coat. |
Our client wanted to play with his new toy at home. I hope he invites us over to play. Notice the difference in the color of the paint from indoor to outdoor. Maybe it was just the paint fumes. |
Our client decided to take their car to the show unfinished. And as you can see, we don't mind. We are proud of our work and so is our client. |
